Dualities in Nature by Erikka Spaid

A Master of Fine Art Thesis Exhibition

On display at the 1020 Collective from April 18th–30th 2022

Closing Reception: April 29th at 7:00PM

Erikka Spaid was born in Altoona, PA and grew up in Glasgow, a small town in Central Pennsylvania. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 2019 and will receive her Master of Fine Art in May 2022.

She has exhibited work in solo, dual, group and juried shows in Pennsylvania at Slippery Rock, Butler, Greenville, and Edinboro. Additionally, she has exhibited in Rockford, Michigan, Hermosa Beach, California, Gdansk, Poland and Ocean City, Maryland.

Erikka started painting in 2018 and since then has explored many different styles of painting, as well as materials, and color choices to create her work. Learning about art and making her own discoveries in her studio have been a driving passion in her life.

Due to negative experiences in elementary school, being an artist was never a dream of hers, until the ripe age of eighteen. Though having a late start joining the art world, painting quickly consumed her life and changed her view of the world. Showing and selling her art is a huge part of her life, but a goal for her is to someday make up for her own negative experiences with art in public schooling, and give other young artists the opportunity to find themselves earlier in life.
